Companies Courting Trainees

For many years, Germany's dual education system combining apprenticeships in companies with vocational schools was a successful model. But now there's a shortage of trainees. Tens of thousands of positions remain unfilled year after year. Companies now have to court trainees actively, paying higher wages or offering premiums such as free use of a car.
