The new VW Beetle has gotten wider, more powerful and more aggressive, but not at the cost of its classic styling. The Beetle Sport is an attempt to create a cool, fun-to-drive car with a retro feel to compete with the Mini. But how does it match up against the Cooper S? At its core, the new Beetle is actually a Golf GTI with a classic Beetle exterior. The engine is great, but there are few surprises. The car also has the familiar Beetle feel, and that's definitely fun, although the Mini with its go-cart feeling and rally pedigree is also unique. But the new Beetle is definitely a worthy competitor.
