In Gambia, tensions at sea are turning violent in a standoff between local fisherman, and foreign-owned trawlers. Desperate local fishermen are attacking foreign trawlers and even turning on each other over the waters off the coast of West Africa.

Tensions are rising at sea as Gambian fishermen clash with foreign trawlers.

Local crews claim that industrial vessels are destroying their nets and livelihoods through violent confrontations and even arson attacks.

With dwindling fish stocks and rising global demand, Gambia's waters have become a battleground.
