With the delta variant of the coronavirus rampant in many countries, scientists around the world say they are concerned. How should we respond? Guests: Tobias Kurth (epidemiologist), Benjamin Alvarez (DW), Ankita Mukhopadhyay (DW)

Tobias Kurth is an epidemiologist from the Charité in Berlin: „The best way to counter the delta variant is to intensify the vaccination campaign and engage in more targeted surveillance rather than panic-mongering.“

Benjamin Alvarez Gruber, is a DW-colleague from Chile. And he believes: “The worrying developments in Chile should be a warning sign for those who pledge to reopen fast as vaccination campaigns gather steam.”

Ankita Mukhopadhyay is a DW correspondent based in Dehli. She is convinced: "We need to rely on scientific expertise, along with rigorous safety measures, if we want to prevent the rise of more dangerous variants.“
