Slovakia’s  Prime Minister Robert Fico, now in his fourth term, is emerging as a controversial figure within the European Union. Once supportive of European integration, Fico is now seen as one of the bloc’s most Russia-friendly leaders.

As Hungary’s Viktor Orban begins to fade from the political spotlight, questions grow over whether Slovakia could take on a more disruptive role in EU politics, raising concerns about unity and foreign policy direction.
