Cubans feel the squeeze as fuel dwindles under US pressure

A decades-old US embargo and Donald Trump's tariff threats against oil suppliers have fueled severe shortages in Cuba. Airlines are pulling back, and daily life is grinding to a halt for residents.

Cuba's fuel crisis has worsened since US moves in December choked off reliable Venezuelan supplies, forcing airlines to cut flights because they can't refuel on the island.

President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum condemned US pressure, calling for sanctions to end as Mexico prepares 800 metric tons of aid and considers oil deliveries without incurring penalties.
