Civil marriages cannot be performed in either Israel or Lebanon. Citizens of these countries wanting to marry outside their faith often travel to Cyprus to wed.

Weddings have become big business on this Mediterranean island. A Lebanese Muslim woman wanting to marry a Christian or secular Israeli Jews wanting to tie the knot can all marry on Cyprus. While the ceremonies don't come cheap, they are practical, as these marriages are recognized in the couples' home countries.
