Denmark boosts military defenses in Greenland

Denmark is increasing its military presence in and around Greenland. The announcement came after Denmark and Greenland held inconclusive talks with US Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The Danish and Greenlandic foreign ministers failed to persuade Washington to scale back its plans for Greenland. After “frank” talks, Denmark acknowledged a continued rift with the US, while President Donald Trump reiterated his aim to annex the territory, citing security threats. Denmark and several European allies are now boosting the military presence in and around Greenland.
