Denmark expands conscription amid tensions with US

Denmark is boosting its ranks by lengthening conscription from four to 11 months and making service gender-neutral. The move comes as security worries in Copenhagen increase amid tensions over Greenland and within NATO.

Denmark is training its first intake since it expanded conscription, as officials seek to build a larger force in case conflict ever reaches its territory. Donald Trump's recent remarks about NATO allies' role in Afghanistan also sparked anger among Danish veterans who served there.
