Ukraine's president blasts the US decision to ease sanctions on Russia as "weak," after Donald Trump praised Moscow for boosting fuel supplies. The move comes weeks before US elections dominated by soaring energy prices.

For years, Washington has tried to squeeze Russia's energy revenues.

Now, Donald Trump has agreed to buy millions of tons of Russian diesel, arguing Americans need lower fuel prices.

Critics say the deal gives Vladimir Putin fresh revenue, weakens sanctions pressure and hands the Kremlin a political victory.

Kyiv is furious, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warning that the agreement will help Russia wage war for longer.

So how did Moscow pull this off, and who stands to benefit?

DW's correspondents report.
