Digitalization in professional soccer

German soccer club Hoffenheim has gone digital, using high-tech programs to analyze the players’ development. And judging by the team’s performance this season, it’s paying off.

Hoffenheim has arrived in the digital age. From heart rhythm monitoring to running speeds and distances covered, the players’ physical performances are recorded and analyzed in real-time using digital high-tech programs. The system also measures and seeks to enhance mental performance. The resulting big data is then incorporated into the development of future team lineups and match strategies.
