Disputed Temple Becomes World Heritage Site

UNESCO has named an 11th-century temple that lies in a disputed border zone between Thailand and Cambodia as a World Heritage site. The announcement has been hailed by Cambodians who say it is a matter of pride for them. But in Thailand the issue has stirred a huge controversy. The country’s Constitutional Court has ruled that the Thai government’s earlier decision to endorse Cambodia’s bid for the heritage listing was unconstitutional.
