Dominican Republic: A country takes aim at climate change

The Dominican Republic aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 25 percent by 2030 - an ambitious goal that has made the country one of the global leaders in the effort to combat climate change.

Implementing that goal while promoting economic growth and encouraging tourism as an important economic resource poses a challenge. That’s why funding is now flowing to a number of climate-protection projects, among them an initiative that encourages farmers to manage their land sustainably.
