At least 160 people have been killed in coordinated attacks on two villages in Nigeria's Kwara state. Authorities blame a militant faction linked to the so-called "Islamic State," though no one has claimed responsibility.

Gunmen killed more than 160 people in two villages in Kwara State in western Nigeria, where victims were found bound, executed and their homes burned.

A separate attack in northern Katsina State left more dead, including a young man whose mother says he was targeted by bandits.

With attackers unidentified, communities are burying victims in mass graves as Nigeria faces rising threats from bandit gangs, insurgents and communal conflict, even as US troops arrive to support security efforts.
