As Germany invests heavily in drones, Munich has emerged as the nation's hub for development. Amid drone sightings in other parts of the EU, the focus is increasingly shifting to air defence.

Munich is emerging as Germany’s hub for cutting-edge drone technology, with defense-focused innovations gaining momentum amid rising geopolitical tensions. From anomaly detection systems for mine recognition to artificial intelligence-powered drone swarms and interceptor drones, startups and research institutions are driving rapid advancements.

The University of the Bundeswehr and companies like Quantum Systems are developing tools to counter airborne threats and streamline battlefield decision-making. As the war in Ukraine underscores the urgency of modernization, Germany aims to close the gap with drone leaders like China and the US.
