Every citizen can use his or her ID card to gain access to their digital file containing information about their health, driver’s license and income. Tax returns can also be handled online within a matter of minutes. Siim Sikkut, an IT consultant for the Estonian government, estimates that this efficient system saves hundreds of millions of euros in administration costs every year.
