Although the Rwandan genocide ended in 1994, its effects still haunt eastern Congo — fueling conflict, reshaping politics, and destabilizing the region's fragile structures.

The devastating effects of the 1994 Rwandan genocide are still playing out in Africa's Great Lakes region, with particularly the  Democratic Republic of Congo endured decades of instability.What began as a regional crisis has become a complex war driven by ethnic tensions, power struggles, and competition over the DRC's vast mineral resources.
