Echoes of the Holocaust

Personal stories from the Holocaust—marked by pain and loss, but also symbols of resistance. Eighty years after World War II, they stand as proof the Nazi regime failed to erase all traces of Jewish culture.

Violins of Hope

For three generations, the Weinstein family has been collecting and restoring violins that once belonged to Holocaust victims and survivors. Today, they lend the instruments to international orchestras. A touching music project.

Remembering forced laborers

The Ravensbrück concentration camp housed a large-scale textile workshop for prisoners' clothing and uniforms. A French artist gives voice to the women who worked there: Violence was commonplace, but there were also acts of rebellion.

Layers of memory

Trauma and memory are themes addressed by Israeli artist Bracha Lichtenberg Ettinger, a daughter of Holocaust survivors. Now her works are on display in Germany for the first time, in a Düsseldorf museum.
