Delegations from the United States and Israel are heading to Cairo, Egypt, for indirect negotiations with the Palestinian militant group Hamas. While many details remain unclear, hope is high in Israel and Gaza for an end to the fighting.

Israelis and Palestinians have cautiously welcomed a new Gaza peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump. Families of hostages still held or deceased in Gaza have expressed hope for a breakthrough that would finally return their loved ones to them. Hamas has signaled its readiness to release the captives and hand over Gaza's administration, though some key details remain unresolved. On both sides, exhaustion and hope fuel cautious optimism ahead of indirect talks in Egypt.
