In Sudan, el-Fasher is now under RSF control. DW's Sella Oneko and Konan Tipen tracked the exodus of survivors to the camps in Tawila, 50 kilometers to the north, where survivors of the siege narrated their ordeals.

Three months after el-Fasher fell to Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF), survivors describe torture, ransom demands and sexual violence. Displaced families in Tawila recount killings during escape attempts and abuse in captivity. Aid groups reported over 1,000 cases of sexual violence last year.

Local NGOs have called for justice and urgent support for victims of rape, extortion and trauma.
