On August 31, the IFA consumer electronics and appliance trade show begins in Berlin. One innovation on the telecommunications market won't yet be among the products on display: smartphones with robust glass made by the Schott company in Jena.

This glass is said to be 20 percent harder than the product used by the market leader. Schott is negotiating with all the major tablet and smartphone manufacturers. Report by Danijel Visevic.
