The Elbe Sandstone Mountains, also known as Saxon Switzerland, attract some 2.5 million tourists every year. The bizarre rock formations, some reaching heights of 560 meters, are the trademark feature of the national park region - making it just the right place for climbing and hiking enthusiasts. A must-see on any visit is the Bastei stone bridge (pictured). Built in 1851, this Saxon Switzerland landmark is regarded as an architectural masterpiece.
