Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg

August 25, 2017

Since this concert hall designed by the celebrated Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron opened in January 2017, it's been the new highlight among Hamburg's sights.

Atop the brick base of an old port warehouse, the spectacular building rises 110 meters skywards. Inside the glass structure the large concert hall offers impressive listening experiences. The audience sits around the central orchestral stage as if in a steep stadium. No audience member is farther than 30 meters from the conductor - nearer than in any other concert hall in the world.
