Epstein files: Expert warns release may shield 'Trump camp'

A vast number of withheld records and heavy redactions in newly released Epstein files are fueling political fallout. Scott Lucas, a professor of international politics at University College Dublin, breaks down why.

The US Justice Department has begun releasing thousands of files related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. However, large portions of the remaining records have not been made public, despite congressional orders.

The partial release broke little new ground on nearly two decades of criminal investigations into Epstein's sexual abuse of young women and underage girls, or his ties to wealthy and powerful figures.
