A disciplinary board may recommend that the commission fire Andreasen, sources told the EUobserver. She was suspended mid-2002 after revealing that the commission's accounting system is widely open to fraud. Andreasen is being accused of breaching EU staff regulations by publicly revealing her findings. In her defense, Andreasen has complained about the fact that the disciplinary board is hearing her case under new staff regulations, which entered into force last May and could favor the commission, after the events took place.
