EU ministers meet in Lviv to back Ukraine's membership bid and explore ways to bypass Hungary's veto, which has stalled progress on Ukraine's path to join the European Union.

Ukraine's push to join the European Union faces new hurdles. The country applied for membership in 2022 and has since implemented major reforms, but Hungary is blocking progress, citing war and economic concerns. EU leaders are exploring deeper sectoral integration as a workaround, offering Ukraine gradual benefits without full membership. Still, accession requires unanimous approval, and Ukraine must tackle corruption before potentially joining the bloc.
