The European Commission is due today to adopt a package of environmental measures aimed at meeting the EU'S ambitious targets for slashing greenhouse gas emissions. Sources say the planned emissions trading scheme is likely to include concessions for oil refineries and airlines, after industry representatives warned EU businesses could suffer. The bloc's goal of cutting CO2 emissions by 20 percent by 20-20 was pushed by Chancellor Angela Merkel during Germany's EU presidency last year.
