EU leaders meet in Brussels to discuss stronger support for Ukraine after the US resumed energy trade with Russia. The talks come as Russia steps up missile attacks on Ukraine.

European Union leaders are debating how to sustain support for Ukraine as concerns grow over US policy toward Russia.

The discussion follows President Donald Trump's decision to allow purchases of Russian diesel, a move that has raised alarms in Europe. Leaders including Germany's Friedrich Merz and Estonia's Kristen Michal stressed the need to back Ukraine through the winter and maintain pressure on Russia's energy sector.

The summit is also considering tougher sanctions, including stricter visa restrictions for Russian citizens, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to brief leaders on intensified Russian missile attacks.
