The bloc points to a surge in violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since the start of the war in Gaza. Israel has denounced the measures, calling the sanctions arbitrary and political.

The EU has agreed on new sanctions targeting Israeli settlers and organizations over rising violence in the occupied West Bank.

The move follows Hungary lifting a long-standing veto, ending a political deadlock.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said the measures also include sanctions on Hamas figures.

Israel has criticized the decision as politically motivated, while EU members remain divided on possible further action.
