The European Union says it's sending hundreds more generators to Ukraine to power hospitals, shelters and other key infrastructure. Amid freezing temperatures, Russian strikes have cut electricity and heating.

Russian strikes have cut power and heating across Brovary near the Ukrainian capital, forcing schools to close and pushing residents to seek warmth in places like an old railway carriage. Heated tents in Kyiv offer hot meals as blackouts and freezing temperatures worsen.

Repair crews struggle to restore energy infrastructure repeatedly damaged by ongoing Russian drone and missile attacks that continue to injure civilians across Ukraine.
