The Lithuanian capital Vilnius and the Austrian city of Linz are this year's European Capitals of Culture. Vilnius celebrated with a performance of the Nutcracker Suite and then at midnight a light show by Berlin lighting artist Gert Hof. Linz also celebrated the start of the year in a big way. We were there for an art installation by Mark Formanek and a monumental multi media opera.
