In our continuing series on renovating old homes in Germany, we meet architect Thomas Bingeser of Kaiserslautern who bought a semi-detached in 2006. He realized he soon had to gut the house because of water damage and structural instability. He rebuilt it to incorporate energy efficiency wherever possible and now he and his family lives in a home that won a low-energy home award.
