The Romantic Road covers 385 kilometers from the River Main to the Alps. Join our reporter Anne-Katrin Gottschling as she starts her journey along the route in the city of Würzburg.
Hiking in Wine Country
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of "the Romantic Road" that goes 385 kilometers from the River Main to the Alps, reporter Anne-Katrin Gottschling travels the length and breadth of it. This episode is "Cycling through Würzburg". where she's in Taubertal, a famous grape-growing area. Our reporter then visits Weikersheim Castle and goes to a seasonal wine pub.
Rickshaw through Rothenburg
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of "The Romantic Road" that goes 385 kilometers from the River Main to the Alps, roving reporter Anne-Katrin Gottschling reports on different sections. This time she is chauffered around scenic Rothenburg on a bicycle-rickshaw as she checks out the enchangting Old Town. She also visits the Christmas store of Käthe Wohlfahrt who sells her products all year long.
By 'Steam Engine to Nördlingen'
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of "the Romantic Road" that goes 385 kilometers from the River Main to the Alps, reporter Anne-Katrin Gottschling does a series of reports. This time she goes by "Steam Engine to Nördlingen" starting from Feuchtwangen. And when she is in Nördlingen she sees the best preserved town walls dating from the Medieval Ages in Germany.
Conoeing on the river Wörnitz
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of "the Romantic Road" that goes 385 kilometers from the River Main to the Alps, reporter Anne-Katrin Gottschling reports this time on "Canoeing on the River Wörnitz" which flows parallel to The Romantic Road. Anne-Katrin is also in a kayak-kanu and travels to Donauwörth where she visits the workshop that produces the famous Käthe Kruse dolls - all by hand. And she rides on Germany's first man-made rapids on a raft.
Vintage Car to Neuschwanstein
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of "the Romantic Road" in Germany, reporter Anne-Katrin Gottschling this time travels by "Vintage Car to Neuschwanstein". En route she visits the "Pfaffenwinkel" ("Monks' Corner") with its proliference of churches, and then she arrives at Neuschwanstein.
