Danes of foreign descent can breathe freely again. Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, known for his hard-line immigration policies, is leaving the country to become NATO's new Secretary General. The new head of the government shares the surname Rasmussen with him, but they are not related, and, in contrast to his predecessor, Lars Løkke Rasmussen is considered a bon vivant and is probably the only western leader to have travelled in Afghanistan disguised as an Afghan. Still, whether the climate for foreigners in Denmark will actually improve under his leadership remains to be seen.
