European Union welcomes the outcome of the vote in Poland - je 22.10.2007 18

Following this weekend's victory at the polls - Poland's centre-right election winner has distanced himself from Washington on its planned missile shield and has said he sees no reason to keep Polish troops in Iraq. The win by the pro-business Civic Platform - led by Donald Tusk - has received support from Brussels. But there's concern in Washington - following Tusk's pledge to mend ties with the European Union and rethink Warsaw's deployments in bith Iraq and Afghanistan.
