German unemployment is set to rise next year amid sluggish company orders to fuel the economic recovery. German unemployment fell slightly to 7.6- percent in November, primarily due to short time work that allows threatened employees to remain on the job for a limited time at reduced hours. But many of those subsidies expire next year.
