German data protection officials have issued a code red warning to young people who place their most intimate personal details on social networking services like Face Book and My Space. They're pointing out that such data - especially photos and possibly incriminating stories - can remain on the world wide web literally forever. The officials are also cautioning parents to fully explain to their children the possible reprecussions later in life of telling - and showing all - on the web. They also want German schools to place data protection awareness on the curriculum as early as possible.
