In his 2nd Symphony, a symphony-cantata titled "Hymn of Praise", he set words from the Holy Scriptures to music. He composed psalms, cantatas, motets and the most renowned oratories of his day. In commemoration of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's 200th Birthday, screenwriter Peter Schlögl reviews the many and varied ways in which this composer with both Jewish and Protestant influences expressed his faith in musical terms.
