Falling German consumer spending weakens the economy (14.08.2008) je 18

The Germany economy contracted for the first time in four years in the 2nd quarter due to weaker consumer spending and dwindling capital investment. GDP dipped Half- a percent from the previous quarter to an annualized 3.1- percent. Althought the data show the German economy DEcellerating, most analysts had expected worse.
