West Africa has one of the highest birth rates in the world, with traditional values typically resulting in large families with lots of mouths to feed. This often means a financial burden on young couples but also affects the reproductive and overall health of many women. In Senegal, family planning and contraception remain taboo subjects. But this is slowly changing.
