# Here in Berlin, tens of thousands of demonstrators have marched against government plans to extend the lifespan of Germany's nuclear reactors. A previous administration decided to phase out nuclear power by 2022. But now Chancellor Angela Merkel's coalition of conservatives and free democrats want to keep it well beyond that date. And they want to push through their plans without the approval of the second chamber, the Bundesrat, where they lack a majority. That's caused widespread anger among anti-nuclear activists.
