Fast and stylish: VW Golf II Rallye G60

It was the ultimate Golf II and very much a rarity – the Golf Rallye. It came with bucket seats and could hit speeds of up to 260 km/h. Only 5,000 Golf II Rallyes were ever built, starting in 1989.

The speedometer goes up to 260 kilometers an hour, making us wonder what the big bad Golf has under the hood. The Corrado's 1.8 liter, 4-cylinder engine was slightly reduced in size. From 1983 to 1992, a whopping 6 million Golf IIs were sold -- but only 5,000 Golf II Rallyes were ever built, starting in 1989.
