Fatou Ellika Muloshi

March 3, 2025

9 years in journalism. Gambian. I speak Mandinka, Wolof, English & some French. Degree in Comms & PR so yes, I know spin!

DW "The 77 Percent" Moderatorin Fatou Ellika Muloshi (Composite)

Three things you should/didn’t know about me
I bungee-jumped 111 meters over the Victoria Falls Bridge.
I lived in Scotland but never visited the Highlands.
I’m a sucker for zodiacs.

An African (dead or alive) I would love to interview
The legendary kora queen Sona Jobarteh. It’s a shame we’ve never met considering we’re both Gambian, but I’d love the chance to interview her.

In my home country, you should visit
The Abuko Nature Reserve. It’s in my hometown although I’ve never been there which is a guilt I carry every day. I’ll visit soon, but in the meantime you should!

Favorite African proverb
"Dinging bulu seneo ning kebal kaa sino leh."
A child with clean hands can eat with elders.

Book recommendation
The Magic Calabash by Nana Grey-Johnson. This book captures the good and the bad with irony. It ignited my love for fiction and reading. Grab a copy, and you’ll see why.

Can’t get enough of music by
Amadeus stole my heart recently. He’s redefining Senegalese Mbalax, and his lyrics are overwhelmingly addictive.

Favorite vacation spot in Africa
Mauritius.

The 77 Percent means this to me
I attended the first 77 Percent debate in 2019 and instantly fell in love with the concept. I thought this is exactly what we need on our TVs. Little did I know I’d become part of the team three years later. Since joining in 2022 I’ve been fuelled by the energy of a dynamic and creative team committed to spotlighting Africa’s most vibrant demographic. That’s why I bring my natural flair, and passion to every story because our audience deserves nothing less.
