Federal Voluntary Service - Opportunity for older people

Originally, Germany's federal voluntary service was conceived for young people because the country had scrapped alternative service along with military conscription. Now many older people are taking the opportunity the service offers to do community work. Albert Gärtner, a long-term unemployed man from Berlin, is working in a kindergarten.
