Laura Bush arrived in Germany on Tuesday, a day in advance of her husband, President George W. Bush. The First Lady landed at the US air base in Rammstein where thousands of servicemen and their families formed the welcoming committee, before being whisked away in a waiting motorcade to Landstuhl Regional Medical Centre, a nearby US hospital complex that treats wounded GI's flown in from Iraq. Mrs Bush was to pay bedside visits to US military personnel, then return to the air base to address some 4,000 personnel and family members. President Bush arrives in Germany on Wednesday for talks with Chancellor Gerhard Schröder in the nearby city of Mainz.
