October 5, 2016

E-car veteran Henrik Fisker has said he's making a fresh effort to come up with a revolutionary electric vehicle with performance parameters "never seen before." Will Tesla have to fear its old rival?

Former BMW designer Henrik Frisker announced plans to relaunch his electric vehicle efforts three years after a bankruptcy with his company making high-prices cars that were popular with celebrities.

Fisker's announcement revived his long-standing rivalry with Tesla as he promised a premium, all-electric successor to his 2012 Fisker Karma "with a patented battery that will deliver a significantly longer life and range than any battery currently on the market."

Fisker insisted that improved technology would make his talks easier today. "Both the technology and the market are more mature now than when we first started out as pioneers in the electric vehicle industry, and our new vehicle will be the most innovative and cutting-edge e-car ever created," the entrepreneur said in a statement.

Will Fisker walk the walk?

He went as far as to say that his new company would "spearhead a revolution in electric cars that will disrupt the market and change the world."

Fisker said the new debut would include dynamic design features, combining advanced materials with the use of the latest optimization software.

"If the electric car is to succeed as a mass-market vehicle, we need radical new battery technology and battery pack integration, and our vehicles will have just that," he said.

Other carmakers including General Motors and Volkswagen are also moving towards all-electric vehicles.
