Flashback: 1951 - the first mandatory car inspections

For 62 years, German cars have had to undergo mandatory inspections every two years. A car doesn't receive a new sticker and isn't allowed on the road until any possible faults have been remedied. Since 1985, emissions have also been tested at the main inspection.
