Europe is bracing for a sharp increase in the number of refugees arriving on its southern shores from Africa - where the fighting in Libya and the economic and political turmoil in Tunisia and Egypt have already compelled thousands to cross the Mediterrainian. For the first time in a year - migrants have arrived in Malta. For weeks now they've been heading for the Italian island of Lampedusa, where they now outnumber the residents. The influx of refugees from Libya is set to increase the longer the battle for control of the country continues.
