Food Production - What is the role of consumers?

Factory farming, over-production and food scandals are all aspects of a larger issue - the low prices that German consumers are willing to pay for food.

Because organic farming is expensive, it produces only a small fraction of the meat consumed in Germany. We speak with Sabine Ohm, an economist and the PROVIEH animal welfare association’s EU consultant, about the role of consumers in Europe’s agricultural industry.
