Footsore: High heels and their effects on the feet

Wearing high heels for long periods of time damages the feet. The arch becomes unstable, the big toe joint degenerates. Tendons and muscles in the foot, leg and back come under strain. Orthopedists say high heels can be worn occasionally, but recommend foot exercises and barefoot walking to compensate.
